Today the world moved a step closer to discovering if the ‘God’s Particle’ or the Higgs Boson, a more commonly used name for this theoretical particle; actually exists. I’m very interested in science, but i’m no scientist and don’t really understand all this stuff, however i do understand we’re talking about huge speeds and energy creation, i.e. the Big Bang Theory!
I confess i’m slightly concerned about this experiment, i’m sure they know what they’re doing, but what if something unforeseen were to happen! Can you stop a black hole when it’s starts? Maybe they’ve also developed a black hole extinguisher too!

You have to admire this feat of science, engineering and teamwork that has gone into this project, it’s remarkable really. Many have argued over the cost of the project, but i think the $10 billion cost to date is relatively cheap, considering the mess our banking system is in and the $ trillion bailouts we’ve seen around the world economies.
We must remember this, if the scientists are right and they manage to harness the awesome amounts of energy we’re talking about (7 TeV (trillion electron volts); then the benefits are obvious.
The need to process huge quantities of data has lead to the creation of the GRID, which many suggest will replace the internet as we know it and has already changed the way we network computers. This innovation alone will provide science and medicine with huge capacity to process vast amounts of data in far shorter times. The benefits of grid computing and the newly formed CLOUD computing, will be felt by all and will lead to huge advances in technology; and is a just one of the spin-off ‘s from this exciting project.
I’m sure there will be many exciting discoveries along the way and i hope they find their theoretical particle, without wiping out mankind along the way(…..Eureka…..oops!).
Observation: Who renamed the Higgs Boson, ‘Gods Particle’ ? I’m concerned that there may be scientists, on this project, that actually believe in God! Surely you cannot be a man of science and god at the same time!
